Help With Closed Mouth Snoring

series Robin Wood in Italy - (from Forges Mute 55) LOS AMIGOS

In the good old days when we still thought that Robin Wood to write all his comics (but already leaked through some indiscretion nippurweb.com.ar) I wrote a long piece about Wood that ended with the list of his series arrived in Italy. "And we hope not too many stupid things you have written" I said to introduce it on Mute Fucine 51. Here, indeed, I take this opportunity to update the blog and correct some things ...
And of course to expand the list with the new series appeared in the weekly Wood after 2002.

Los Amigos ( Lanciostory 12/84)

Jose Quiroga is a flamboyant womanizer who earns Argentina to live with the races (with all types of racing: even those of Mijas donkey!). Quince Mil is a cold and disenchanted adventurer who has left behind the profession of a mercenary. They live together on a boat moored in the port of Estapona and, by the book, live a lot 'adventures. Los Amigos is a series born under the sign of adventure and fun, and knows how to offer readers a large dose of both. Certainly some plots detection are simple or trivial, but Wood makes his way to the canons of buddy movie is remarkable. Much interest in the series was in fact created by the contrast between the characters of the two protagonists. And if these are sometimes little more than two-dimensional caricatures of their stories are almost always read with some pleasure. The drawings Macagno, by contrast, are a real execution. On the other hand it is a Macagno almost the beginning and his inexperience is evident not so much in the rough and approximate as drawn in the terrible organization of the tables (especially of the early episodes), completely misleading and not at all functional. And even if the origin of these plates there was a hand dell'Eur distracting designs Macagno would still very far from what he would do next.
Abandoned by Wood, the series was continued with stories articulated by Robson and others (Fernandez or maybe just the same undercover Wood) [honestly do not know who matched the pseudonym Montalvan] ; Macagno also was replaced from such a Franco designs [And in Argentina, also by Pedrazzini, and some Heufemann Lorenzano] . Certainly Los Amigos not one of the most mature works Robin Wood and interesting but in the '80s could involve and enthuse readers, perhaps even today some of the stories would be able to tear a smile.
