series Robin Wood in Italy - (from Forges Mute 55) BIG NORMAN

In the good old days when we still thought that Robin Wood to write all his comics (but already leaked through some indiscretion nippurweb.com.ar) I wrote a long piece about Wood that ended with the ' list of its series arrived in Italy. "And we hope not too many stupid things you have written" I said to introduce it on Mute Fucine 51. Here, indeed, I take this opportunity to update the blog and correct some things ...
And of course to expand the list with the new series of the weekly Wood appeared after 2002.

Big Norman ( Skorpio 27/85)

Dave "Big" Norman is a New York detective who thoroughly deserves his nickname is more than two meters tall, weighs over 100 pounds and militancy in the Marine Corps made a and an impressive physical strength. It deals with various cases, ranging from all the canons of the genre (kidnapping, extortion, blackmail, the fight to the 'Organisation', etc..) And usually it is his prowess in saving him from situations in which the leads from the nose detective. Along with Hard world - and Morgan Kozakovitch & Connors is a series of texts more Wood's sarcastic and first-person narrative contributes much to the charm of the series. Unfortunately Big Norman has always been the target of criticism concerning the supposed banality of his stories and the same basic assumption (the detective who works in New York). But once we put aside the prejudices, the series is enjoyable and, for the sarcasm noted above, very engaging and irreverent.
number Skorpio which appeared in the first insert Norman Big
The Daniel Haupt is not valid was the only designer Big Norman, but the first few episodes made by Horacio Altuna did not arrive in Italy. The pseudonym under which was concealed Robert O'Neill Robin Wood may actually be an umbrella pseudonym used in this case also by Ray Collins and possibly others [No: Wood was always] . Big Norman was published in an unusual way: Skorpio appeared on in 1985 as a "second insert" new and was never reprinted [The second insert was an experiment of the mid-80's foreboding of what would have happened for a short period on Skorpio with the transition to the 2004 paperback] . Adaptation dell'Eur three stripes is visible but much less annoying than in other cases.
A curiosity: it seems that the features of the character are inspired by those of a giant Uncle Wood!
